The Committee is grateful to the Director for his response to the concerns raised about Kapua, the IT project underway at the CAA. Cancelling the rollout of the EMPIC Medical Module pending a fuller evaluation of certification requirements is the correct decision. It is of note that CASA spent millions of dollars trying to configure EMPIC for aeromedical certification. This effort was abandoned in favour of the current Medical Records System, which continues to be developed by CASA.
